The Sunday Stills challenge for today is “Statues or Figurines.” I’m going to go with statues.
Last Sunday evening, I had an opportunity to take some photographs around the Kimbell Art Museum and the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas. I don’t think I’ve ever been there. At least I don’t remember ever being there. I’m not much into modern art. The meaning of some things that are “modern” sort of escapes me. Others embrace it and love it’s looks and meaning and that’s all right. Different strokes for different folks is what they say. So it’s no wonder that when I saw this statue that I was a bit confused as to what it really was. I was thinking…maybe a bird?

Imagine my surprise when I goggled it later, to find out that it is a woman! Specifically…”Woman Advertising the Public: Project for a Monument” in bronze, created in 1981 by Joan Mir’o. Okay….

it does have, um….boobs. But it also appears to have a bird’s head. Just saying…
Anyway….be sure to go over to the Sunday Stills blog and check out what others have shared for statues or figurines.
Wow! Hard to believe that August is almost over! Before we know it, it will be HALLOWEEN!!
