Wordless = No Words, Just a Photo

The Sunday Stills challenge for today is “Statues or Figurines.” I’m going to go with statues. Last Sunday evening, I had an opportunity to take some photographs around the Kimbell Art Museum and the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas. I don’t think I’ve ever been there. At least I don’t remember ever being there. I’m not much into modern art. The meaning of some things that are “modern” sort of escapes me. Others embrace it and love it’s looks and meaning and that’s all right. Different strokes for different folks is what they say. So it’s no wonder that when I saw this statue that I was a bit confused as to what it really was. I was thinking…maybe a bird?
![]() ![]() Imagine my surprise when I goggled it later, to find out that it is a woman! Specifically…”Woman Advertising the Public: Project for a Monument” in bronze, created in 1981 by Joan Mir’o. Okay….
![]() ![]() it does have, um….boobs. But it also appears to have a bird’s head. Just saying… Anyway….be sure to go over to the Sunday Stills blog and check out what others have shared for statues or figurines. Wow! Hard to believe that August is almost over! Before we know it, it will be HALLOWEEN!!
8 comments “Feelings, nothing more than feelings…” ~from the song “Feelings written by Morris Albert This time the Round Robin Photo Challenge is about photos that express a feeling. The bonus part is to not share what the feelings are in the photos and to let the blog visitors guess. So here are a few photos I selected that I think expressed some sort of feeling at the time I snapped the photo. These were not posed “expressions” but what was really captured at the time. Can you guess the “feeling” for each one? Oh, and these photos do not go together! All were taken at different times and on different occasions.
“Feelings, nothing more than feelings…”Enjoy the day and if you get a chance, take some photos that express a feeling or head over to The Round Robin Photo Challenge to join in on the fun and see what others have shared.
6 comments Last Sunday while on a Social Shoot with other photographers, I took a few minutes to snap this photo of the “Vortex” at the Modern Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas. I like this silhouette of it against the blue (and hot) August sky. I’ll have to plan another visit in the fall to take more photos. This 2002 sculpture was created by Richard Serra. It stands 67 feet tall and weighs a whopping 230 tons! Yes, TONS!! It is made of steel that oxidized over time into it’s rich patina color.
![]() ![]() And then when I stepped around to the other side of the museum building I saw this lovely cloud formation–it would have been nice if it had turned into a rain cloud, but it did not.
![]() ![]() It is so nice that it is Friday! Not sure yet what our plans are for the weekend…hopefully a bit of relaxing, a bit of blogging, maybe some scrapbooking or card making, dinner out and if it’s cool enough– a Sunday afternoon road trip! Have a great weekend and don’t forget to click here to go over to SkyWatch Friday for a list of other blogs and skies from around the world!
4 comments Surprise! The weather has been absolutely amazing here the last few days! We had this cool front (the weatherman says “cold” front but I tend to think of it more as a front that cooled things off rather than making it cold) and the temps starting yesterday have been almost fall like–we were even able to turn the air conditioner off yesterday and open all the windows…all day long! This morning we had the windows open but by lunch it was time to close them and turn that AC on. Still not as blazing hot as it has been the past several weeks! Like on Sunday…oh my! Sunday was a scorcher!! And that is the day of the first Photographer Social Shoot with Bella Pop Photography! We met up at the Kimbell and Modern Art Museums in Fort Worth, Texas to photograph a model and other things if we wanted and ask questions. The super cute Merry Jett was our model for the afternoon. She was fabulous! You would never guess that the temps were hovering around 104-105 degrees! She was one cool cookie!

![]() ![]() Loved the balloons on the grass but I guess balloons don’t like grass because every time one touched a blade of grass (it was windy), a balloon popped!
![]() ![]() Then while Merry made a wardrobe change, I started taking photos of other things, like the Vortex sculpture, the statue by Joan Mir’o, the sky and the pink blooms of the crape myrtle trees. (I’ll be sharing a few pics of the sculpture, statue and sky tomorrow and on Sunday).
![]() ![]() Oooh…love the background bokeh I caputured on this next one…
![]() ![]() As a result I fell behind from the group and missed out on some fabulous model sessions with Merry in some awesome red boots. But I caught up in time to get a few shots of the group photographing her!

The more photogs to hang out with the better! We learn so much from each other! And thanks Merry for being such a fantastic model! Well, “It’s Thursday!” and that means tomorrow is Friday and then the weekend! What have you got planned? Have a good one!
